The dairy farm today is a full time operating farm milking 110 cows, raising 100 head of replacement cattle and about 50 holstein steers per year.
We also raise most of the feed for the herd, purchasing only protein and minerals. Our crops include corn, soybeans, wheat, alfalfa, and oats. The crops are grown on approximately 1000 acres of cropland. Some excess crops are sold also. We have a complete line of equipment to do all our own field work.
In the spring we host groups of kindergarten and 1st grade students for tours of the dairy. We teach them where and how milk is produced as well as all the other elements of operating a farm. Students are given the opportunity to touch a calf, and investigate a tractor. For more information or to schedule a tour, call 715-370-4283
I work with special ed students and do a lot of field trips, a personal dream of mine is to milk a cow some day. Do you offer that?
